How Much to Tip a Bartender at a Wedding or Private Event
October 4, 2026 · 1 min read
Tipping is optional, and nobody will make it awkward if you skip it. But hosts ask, so here is a straight answer.
What hosts usually do
A common host tip for a private event bartender is 15 to 20 percent of the service price, or a flat amount that feels right for the night. On a $350 Silver package that is about $50 to $70. For a wedding, many couples tip the bartender the same way they tip the DJ or photographer.
Tip jar or host tip?
- Host tip: you cover it, guests never think about money, and the bar feels like part of the party. This is the usual choice for weddings, showers, and corporate events.
- Tip jar: fine for casual backyard parties if you are comfortable with it. Tell BigCee in advance and she will set it up or leave it off, your call.
- No tip: completely acceptable. The package price is the price.
How it works when you book online
When you pay your deposit or your balance on the BigCee Exotic BarLuxe site, there is an optional tip step with preset percentages or a custom amount. It goes on the same card payment, and it shows on your receipt. If you would rather tip in cash at the end of the night, that works too.
What a tip is not
A tip does not buy extra hours. Service runs for the scheduled time in your package, and additional hours are $50 per hour on standard packages, $100 per hour on weddings, arranged before the event. If you think the party will run long, book the hours up front and tip however you like.
