How Many Bartenders Do You Need for 50, 100, 150, or 200 Guests?
October 12, 2026 · 2 min read
The most common planning question we hear, and the one with the simplest answer. Here is the rule of thumb, the exceptions, and how it maps to BigCee Exotic BarLuxe packages.
The rule of thumb
Plan on one bartender for every 50 to 75 guests when the menu is simple: two signature cocktails plus beer and wine. A full bar with made-to-order anything slows the line and pushes that closer to one per 50. For a seated dinner where most drinking happens at the toast and after, one bartender stretches further than at a standing cocktail party where everyone hits the bar at once.
Quick guide by guest count
- Up to 50 guests: one bartender
- 50 to 75 guests: one bartender with a tight menu, two if it is a full bar
- 75 to 100 guests: one bartender for a signature menu at a seated event, two for a standing party
- 100 to 150 guests: two bartenders
- 150 to 200 guests: two to three bartenders, depending on menu and the length of the busiest hour
- 250 or more: three plus, and usually a second bar station
What changes the math
- A short, named cocktail menu moves a line two to three times faster than open requests
- Batching the signature drinks ahead of the rush lets one bartender handle a bigger room
- Beer and wine self-serve stations next to the bar take pressure off during the peak hour
- The first hour is the busiest. A 4-hour party with 100 guests has one hard hour and three easy ones.
How BigCee packages are sized
BigCee Exotic BarLuxe packages are built by guest count, so the staffing is already matched to the room: Bronze for up to 25 guests, Silver to 50, Gold to 75, Platinum to 100, Diamond to 150, and Luxury to 200. Wedding packages cover up to 75 and up to 150 guests. If your event is on the high end of a tier with a full-bar style menu, ask about an additional bartender when you book. For more than 200 guests, request a custom quote and the staffing is built around the event.
The honest answer for most parties
If you have under 75 guests and let BigCee set a two or three cocktail menu, one bartender is plenty, and the bar still looks like the best part of the party. Enter your guest count on the booking page and the right package comes up automatically.
